Are flights covered if they are cancelled due to fuel outages caused indirectly by the war?
No. Flight costs are not covered under the travel policy. Refunds must be sought from the airline under the Consumer Guarantees Act. The policy does cover non-refundable land arrangements you are unable to use because you can’t travel, such as accommodation, tours, and rental car down payments. These costs must be claimed with the insurer.
Are flights covered if they are cancelled as a direct result of the war?
No. Flights cancelled directly due to the war are not covered. Examples include airports being bombed or airports or airspace being closed due to the conflict.
Are flight changes or rescheduling costs covered?
No. Change or rescheduled flights caused by the war are not covered. In these situations, responsibility lies with the airline, which may offer an alternative routing or a refund depending on their policies. Flight re-routing caused by airport or airspace closures is considered a direct result of the war and is not covered.
Is accommodation or other booking cancellation covered if it is a direct result of the war?
No. Accommodation, tours, or other bookings cancelled directly due to the war are not covered. Refunds or credits must be sought from the service providers directly. Please contact your travel agent for assistance.
What war-related situations are excluded under Cover-More?
Cover is excluded if travel is prevented due to widespread physical destruction caused by war, civil war, terrorism or nuclear incidents, or due to government-imposed restrictions such as border closures or airspace closures.
What is the latest Cover-More Middle East update?
A surge in hostilities between Israel, the United States and Iran has resulted in coordinated missile strikes throughout the Gulf, with impacts extending to civilian areas in Dubai, including Palm Jumeirah. These events have caused casualties, travel disruption and heightened regional instability. Customers should monitor SafeTravel for updates.
What support is available for Allianz customers already travelling?
Customers already overseas whose travel has been disrupted by the conflict and are delayed beyond their policy end date will have their cover automatically extended at no extra cost until they return home.
What should Allianz customers know about future bookings?
The war exclusion continues to apply. Any disruption arising from the conflict will not be covered, particularly when transiting through Middle Eastern hubs such as Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi.
Which Middle Eastern destinations are currently unavailable on Allianz booking platforms?
United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Oman, Pakistan, Bahrain, Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Palestinian Territories and Kuwait.
Is there any cover still provided during the conflict?
Yes. While there is no cover for war-related events or choosing not to travel due to the conflict, the policy remains valid for non-war-related claimable events such as injury or illness. All claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Should I still monitor travel advice?
Yes. Travellers should regularly check official government travel advisories, such as SafeTravel, as conditions and advice levels can change quickly.
