Specialised Insurance

There are many occupations and areas that require specialised covers. If you would like further information please click on the relevant heading below.

Accident and Illness

Financial commitments usually necessitate the need for regular income, and difficulties are often met where there is no income for a long period of time. We offer a variety of policies with the flexibility to meet individual circumstances.

While a traditional policy may offer a regular payment for temporary or permanent disability caused by accident or illness, others offer a lump sum.

Contact us to find out which would best suit your needs.

Construction

Builders

Protect yourself - Replacing materials and re-building, not to mention delays caused by damage can seriously increase your costs. Contract works insurance can minimise these losses.

Homeowners

If you are carrying out work on your existing home it is important to let your broker know – if you don’t inform your insurance company, your house insurance may be invalidated.

If you are building a new home you will need insurance cover. Some builders carry their own construction insurance and this is included in their costs to you. If you are relying on your builder to provide this cover ask to see a current policy. If not, you can arrange insurance yourself whilst construction is in process.

Below are the types of construction insurance options available:

Annual cover
Open Declaration

This covers all your projects automatically up to a specified value and time frame. One declaration is required at the beginning of the period of insurance and a provisional premium is based on this information. A further declaration is completed at the end of the period and any adjustments (up or down) will be made to the premium then.

Project Declaration

This differs from the policy above in that a declaration is completed at the beginning of the insurance period to receive the peace of mind of an annual cover. A nominal premium is paid at the beginning of the period and then a simple proposal is completed upon inception of each and every contract. The premium is charged on each separate risk and terms are set at the beginning of the period. This enables you to pay as you go rather than pay a lump sum at the beginning of the period. However it is important that a proposal be completed for each and every contract to ensure cover is in place.

Single Projects

This is as it states – an individual policy for each and every risk. This is best suited to individuals who may only be involved in constructing a small number of buildings in a 12 month period and is ideally suited to people who are arranging their own insurance for the building of their home. Should you wish clarification of this please CLICK HERE and we can arrange to contact you to discuss this further.

Income Protection

There are a wide variety of solutions to the disablement process. Whether an individual has a short-term illness or accident, or the issue becomes a long-term disability can have various degrees of loss to a family or business. Whether it is a loss to a business because a key person is off work or whether a family income is affected and how long this loss can be tolerated.

As Brokers we aim to increase the certainty that an insurance solution will respond to any claim, so we need to discuss the issues that are important to our clients to make sure we have best covered the specific needs of our clients.

There is no one answer or solution to a loss of income issue so we encourage our clients to discuss their needs so we can tailor make a package to suit.

Legal Defence

There are covers available both for private individuals/families and Organisations. This offers protection in the event of being faced with a criminal or civil action. You must be reasonably intending to plead not guilty. As you will be aware the cost of representation is expensive and this can provide protection for costs incurred.

There are also a number of specialised liabilities such as:

  • Defamation

  • Malpractice liability

  • Punitive and exemplary damages

  • IT liability

  • Liability consequential loss

As you can see, this is a quite complex area of insurance and one that needs to be discussed fully to ensure that adequate protection is in place.

We would be only too happy to arrange an appointment to discuss any concerns you may have regarding liability.
